About
The Washington West African Center (WAWAC) is seeking a friendly, organized, and community-oriented individual to serve as a Tax Intake Volunteer for our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. This vital role serves as the first point of contact for clients seeking free tax preparation services, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience for all.

As a Tax Intake Volunteer, you will greet clients, assist with intake forms, verify documentation, and help maintain the smooth flow of appointments. Your attention to detail and interpersonal skills will help ensure that each client receives timely and accurate service, contributing to WAWAC’s mission of economic empowerment and financial equity.

Responsibilities
- Welcome clients and guide them through the check-in and intake process
- Review client documents for completeness and eligibility (e.g., IDs, Social Security cards, income statements)
- Assist clients in completing IRS intake forms (Form 13614-C)
- Ensure all required documentation is collected and organized for the tax preparers
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive personal and financial information
- Communicate with tax preparers and site coordinators to ensure smooth client flow
- Provide general administrative support such as scheduling, data entry, and answering client questions
- Participate in training sessions and team meetings to stay informed on VITA procedures and updates
- Uphold IRS and WAWAC standards for ethical conduct and client service

Requirements
All WAWAC Volunteers are required to complete the following:
- IRS Certification: Complete the Intake/Interview & Quality Review certification (provided during training)
