Volunteer Management Assistant
Location: Lynnwood, WA (Hybrid – onsite at WAWAC + remote tasks)
Time Commitment: 5–10 hours per week
Reports to: Volunteer Coordinator

Overview
The Washington West African Center (WAWAC) is expanding its community programs and we are seeking a dedicated Volunteer Management Assistant to support our Volunteer Coordinator. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys organization, communication, and helping community programs run smoothly. You will play a key part in ensuring volunteers feel welcomed, prepared, and supported.Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Recruitment & Outreach
- Assist with posting volunteer opportunities on platforms such as Idealist, GivePulse, Benevity, and local community boards
- Help screen volunteer inquiries and route them to the Volunteer Coordinator
- Support outreach to schools, universities, and community partners to attract new volunteers
Volunteer Scheduling & Communication
- Maintain volunteer schedules for events and weekly programs
- Send reminders, confirmations, and follow‑up messages to volunteers
- Help prepare volunteer orientation materials and onboarding packets
Event Support
- Assist with check‑in, setup, and volunteer coordination during events
- Ensure volunteers understand their roles and have the materials they need
- Track attendance and gather feedback from volunteers after events
Administrative Support
- Update volunteer databases and logs
- Help maintain accurate records of hours, roles, and assignments
- Support the Volunteer Coordinator with planning meetings and documentation
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Comfortable using email, spreadsheets, and basic digital tools
- Friendly, patient, and able to work with diverse community members
- Ability to multitask and manage small details
- Experience with volunteer management is a plus but not required
