Overview
Our Mentor Program provides kids at risk greater success with educational opportunities through mentorship. Since 1995, the Communities In Schools of Renton-Tukwila (CISRT) Mentor Program has matched volunteer mentors with students in grades K-12 as an early intervention to school drop-out.
Who you are serving
The program focuses on students who could benefit from extra attention and encouragement. These students may exhibit risk factors for dropping out of school such as poverty, failing grades, absenteeism, high mobility, disengagement from school or low self-esteem.
Your Role
The Mentor's purpose is to be a consistent caring adult. Through setting life and academic goals, planning for college and beyond, engaging in social/emotional learning, and teaching life skills, mentors build a trusting relationship with their mentee to encourage positive choices, promote self-esteem and support academic achievement.
Location
Your location will be the school at which your mentee attends in either the Renton or Tukwila School District.
