This urban forest provides a neighborhood walkway between South Beacon Hill and Rainier Beach, connecting neighbors to light rail and offering the community a natural area to walk, explore, play, and learn. For example, students from South Shore K-8 (go Sea Dragons!) take a walking field trip every month to their local forest & outdoor classroom.
For MLK Day, we'll be working outdoors getting new plants in the ground and spreading woodchips around new trees that will become a future forest for the community for generations. Find out more at www.facebook.com/eastduwamish
Street parking is available, although the site is also accessible by light rail, bus, and bike. We'll provide tools and gloves, just bring yourselves, your passion for making a difference, snacks, and water bottles. Wear close-toed shoes and clothes that can get dirty.
