Who We Are

We're a woman-led organization who are also proud first, second and who knows how many generations ago their family migrated - Americans. We are a small and scrappy organization, but we are hungry to grow so we can achieve great things for our community. Immigrant and refugee populations are our primary focus, but we are here to help anyone and everyone. SYFC is here to empower and uplift, enrich and honor.

Our Mission Statement:

Somali Youth & Family Club (SYFC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing essential services to Somali and other underserved groups in King County.

What We Do

We have an Education, Housing and Advocacy department. Our Education section runs after school and in school programs focused on enriching youth and providing academic opportunity. We help them learn by making it fun and framing what they learn through playing games.

Housing is dedicated to Case Management and Homeless prevention. We have programs for individuals and families that offer things like Rehousing and Rental assistance. The goal is to end homelessness in King County and to ensure secure housing for everyone.

Advocacy was born out of the needs of these two departments. They hear the concerns and issues which arise in these two departments and bring them to the attention of elected officials. Events and panel discussions are hosted and many, many emails/letters sent on behalf of those we serve in Education and Housing.
